I had a half-dream the other night about two things. One was someone who spoke only in similes and metaphors when it came to talking (or was it writing?) about people, and all the expressions had to do with vegetables. The phrase I remember was, “…long cool fingers like string-beans, and her teeth were perfect hominy on watermelon gums.” Pretty sick, huh?
The other thing I dreamt was…um. Dang.
Well, here’s a consolation idea: during the election hullaballoo, I thought it would be cool to write a short story called “Super Patriot” about a guy who manages to get registered to vote in 4 counties and spends all his time either serving on jury duty, writing his senators and congressmen, studying the rights and duties of citizens, speaking at local toastmaster’s club, and, on election day, casting 4 votes. I haven’t decided which party I’d make him, but if he cares about history and precedent, it would probably be Republican…er, I mean Democrat. Actually, sounds more Libertarian, doesn’t he. He would get involved in all these things partly as a way to ‘earn’ the right to vote 4 times in each election.
