School Starts

Ok. On Wednesday September 5th I had my first day of school. It was fun. Especially at recess. And the next day we spent the whole day, all the recesses, playing freeze tag. We’d run out yelling, “FREEZE TAG” and everyone would be yelling it and starting to play. There is a girl named Hunjin and I kept mistaking her for a boy for a whole recess. And for a whole day and a half she was being “it” while we were playing. And she was so tired of being it, that she finally gave up. Then another girl said “Is Hunjin it? I really want her to be it!” So I said, “No, she’s exhausted from running for a day and a half, she doesn’t want to be it.” So the girl said “Oh…” Then Hunjin and I were both “it” and chasing everyone around and then someone would say “Ok, now someone else can be the freezer.” So I said, “Ok” but then the person tagged me right away, and I was like, “Awww…”

My teacher is nice and sets up lots of games for the class to do while they are working, and it’s a lot of fun. There’s this one game with a star chart in it, and there’s five stars. Every time everyone’s really good the class gets a point. There are like five zeros and every time you cover one you get one extra minute of recess. Right now we have an extra seven minutes. Like four kids raised their hands to use their minutes that day, but the rest (fourteen kids) put their hands down to save them. I didn’t, cause I wanted to use them.

Lunches are good. Every day we have milk. Sometimes we have chocolate milk. Today we had chicken nuggets. And cornbread (blech!). I hate cornbread. Nuggets were good. I even asked if other kids wanted to give me theirs but none of them did. I offered my cornbread, but no one took it. We only had 5 nuggets, and each one only takes two bites to eat. With MY mouth. For me.

The work in my class is really easy (sometimes). The hardest is the handwriting. We have to do handwriting because our teacher isn’t very good at handwriting, but she wants us to be good. The easiest is the math, even though sometimes it can be fun, actually. Right now it’s easy since it’s all stuff I already know. Tomorrow I have a big day ahead of me, since we’re switching classes with the other 3rd grade class, and the other teacher will teach me some stuff. I don’t know her name, maybe Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton. My friend Aiden who lives really close to me is in her class. Their teacher is old, and I don’t know if like old teachers. I like young teachers and boy teachers. I like boy teachers the most.

Goodbye. And by the way, the next post I do will be about me shutting down this blog and starting a new one. Hope you like the pictures.

Farmer Boy and School Boy

Tonight summer is over for me and we just finished reading Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Tomorrow I get on a bus and start school. I feel wierd and scared about starting 3rd grade and being eight years old and going to school for the first time. Tonight I went to a open house at my school and met my new teacher. Her name was Mrs. ODonnell. She was young, I think she was in her thirties.

Now I will tell you about Farmer Boy. This is the last time I am going to have to tell you about something for school. I don’t want to keep blogging here any more. My mom says I should write one more blog about my first day of school though. What I want to do is start a new blog that is different than this one, where I only write about science stuff and stuff I am building and interested in. I will have to do it myself though because my parents are going to be starting a new blog with Abel.

Farmer Boy was fun and interesting, I liked it because Almanzo; the main character’s life is so different than mine. One thing is because they are farmers and always trading: selling what they made and buying other stuff. Almanzo’s favorite thing is horses. His other favorite thing to do was eat. It was all about food it made me hungry all the time. There was something called crab apple jelly it sounded wierd. He got to eat doughnuts which is my favorite food and I don’t get to eat that many doughnuts but my Mom said that if I worked as hard as Almanzo I could eat that much sugar too. I don’t have a favorite part of the book because lots of it was interesting, I did like the part when he beat up his cousin but both of them got in trouble even though Almanzo was really only keeping him from doing something bad . Here is a picture of that part.

My mom said that when we finished reading this book we will make doughnuts sometime.

baseball camp

basebull2.jpg

So here is something else I did this summer… I went to a baseball camp. It was fun because we got to play games and it always had to do with a ball. But what I hated was the exercises which are the warm ups. I was not one of the MVC’s, that stands for Most Valuable Camper, neither was Abel. He was in the camp with me too. The first day of it there was field trip and I got to ride on a school bus for the very first time. I was almost eight years old and never been on a school bus. Can you believe that? And Abel has been on one like two hundred times.

My field trip was to a real baseball game it was for the Tacoma Rainers but one kid came with Mariners clothes on and he got a little in trouble. I found out that the Angels are beating the Mariners right now. If I went to one of those games I would still cheer for the Angels because they were the first baseball team I ever saw play at Angel stadium. I saw them play there two times. Anyways the Rainers were playing a team from Las Vegas called the Area 51’s. We couldn’t stay for the whole game so I don’t know who won. It was fun going to the game because I got to get a hot dog and my own soda, I got diet pepsi because they didn’t have Root Beer.

Baseball lasted one whole week and it lasted all day each day. I wouldn’t want to really go to baseball camp again but I would want to go to swimming camp.

Dirtworks

This summer I got to take a class on gardening. Every Tuesday morning I went to a garden called Dirtworks Master Gardener. Each week we learned about something differant about gardening. First we would help pick weeds or flowers of rasberries when they were ripe. I liked picking the rasberries because we were alowed to eat them too. After helping in the garden we had a lesson then we would do a craft or project and then it would be over. it was fun sometimes. We learned about Birds in My garden and what they eat and then worms in my garden, Snails in my garden and food from my garden. One of the last ones was about starting new plants by planting leaves. That one was fun and that is what we were doing in the picture. It was also fun because my friend L came to the class too.( By the way L stands for Logan) Here is one picture. I will blog a few more times about summer stuff before school starts.

Lake Cushman

today I went swimming in Lake Cushman for the last time this summer. I could maybe go on a weekend after school starts, but it will probably only get too cold. I went to Lake Cushman 5 times this summer. It is still worth it when it is an hour drive away from Olympia; it is also a big big lake.

My Nanma was the first person to take me there. She found a really nice spot off a dirt road where there are rocks to jump off of and tree stumps out in the warter to climb on. Actually there are lots and lots and lots of tree stumps out in the water. You cant see them all because most of them are underwater, deep down, but the water is super clear so you can see them and of couse the ground is covered in rocks. There are mountains all around it.

It’s really fun to go there. I am going to be sad not to be able to go there this winter. The water is cold at first when you get in and it also stays pretty cold. I would like to go there this winter to see what it looks like but not to go in there to swim. You wouldnt want to go in there either. I just want to look at it to see it with snow around. Here are some pictures:

TrainTrip

This week we had more vistitors, It was my grammy and papa. On the second day they were here I went on a train trip and it was called Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad. When I went on it it was like two hours long. It is suposed to be a steam engine, but that needs three guys to work it, but they only had two guys working that day so we had to go on a diesel engine. We sat in the very back car where there was no roof.

I got to watch them hook a different engine on the back of our car and it was cool to watch.

We went over a big gigantic trestle bridge that was way up high and it really scared me because any minute I thought that the whole bridge might fall because it is a really really old bridge. We went over it twice and it made ceaking noises, then it was stupid because this one boy said to me “This is really really boring I would rather be at my grandmas house playing games.” But it was a fun trip.

It was sunny and very hot and that is unusal for Washington, but it is probably going to get hotter this week, maybe ninety degrees. It was fun doing this trip because my Papa likes trains. It was a fun drive out to where the train was too. Here are some more pictures ….(but first I have to go find the camera)

Birthday #8

bday0.jpg
So I turned Eight years olds this week. Here is how I spent my day:

First I went to pick up my friend L the night before my birthday to spend the night. He made me a slingshot for my birthday present.
bday1.jpg
We got pizza and set up a tent and played in it a little bit.
bday5.jpg
then we slept inside and the next morning I had my favorite breakfast: broiled shredded wheat.
bday6.jpg
And I opened one present–a new Tintin book and some Dr. Pepper jelly beans. Then we went to DirtWorks (which is a class I have been going to this summer that my Mom says I have to blog about later) where I had a doughnut cake .
Then I went to a restaurant called Tugboat Annies that I really like (and by the way I had root beer three times in a row) I opened another present at Tugboat A’s and it was two potion bottles for me to play with.
bday3.jpg
bday4.jpg
Then I went rock climbing at a rock climbing gym. We climbed lots of different walls and I liked to jump off of some, but others I just climbed too high.
bday2.jpg
My dad helped us or else we could not have got down or it at least would have been really really hard. Then L had to go home and for dinner I got to go to the Spar Downtown Oly with my nanma and kelpa. I got another root beer and got to play pool a whole lot.
bday8.jpg
And then I opened up two more presents: one was a Playmobile set from my nanma and kelpa and two little boat-making sets from my mom and Dad.
bday7.jpg
after that I got to go rock climbing again with Abel this time instead of L. We stayed untill they closed and I got even better at climbing.
bday10.jpg
bday9.jpg
I had a good birthday!

Peter and the Starcatchers

Peterstar.jpg

If you have noticed that I have a list of books I want to read, one of them is called Peter and the Starcatchers. My Dad has has been reading it to us all summer and we just finished it.

PeterYStarcatchers.jpg

I liked learning the history of Peter Pan. Captin Hook is really Black Stash and the crocodile is Mr Grin. I liked finding out that Tinkerbell was really a bird. And that Black stash had some of the really really really fastest sails in the world because they were a pair of womens old fashioned bras and they were called the ladies!

ladies0002.jpg

I am looking forward to reading the next book called Peter in Scarlett.

Visitors

This summer we have had lots of visitors. First my aunt Robin and uncle David visited. it was fun because Aunt Robin got to see my room and play with me some. Then my other Aunt and Uncle got here they are Amanda and Peter. That was fun because I got to stay up and play Settlers two times and we went swimming in a mountain lake one day.

PeterYAmanda.jpg

After that our friend Mike Liaw came to stay. We went to museums with him. First was an art museum and then a museum of Flight. We saw trenches from WW1 at the museum of flight. He got us sodas that were in light glass bottles that were really light blue and then there was a marble blocking the top that you had to push down with a plastic cork and the marble was the same color as the bottle then you drink it and it tasted like bubble gum.

Flight 1.jpg

Then this weekend my old neighbors from Whittier came by guess who? Robbie and Danni, when they got here we played in my room with them and then cowboys outside and then we went in the garage and started making weapons. Then we got to play those cowboys and indian games in Watershed Park and hide from the adults.

I didnt want Them to have to leave. It is ok having guests I guess!

up late at midnight

I went to a drive-through movie last night. I watched Ratatoulli. I had fun; it was funny. After that, at midnight, the last Harry Potter book came out. We walked around in the bookstore with all these people dressed up as Harry Potter. My friend Logan put on a scar, and then it itched when it was drying.

P1090533.JPG

And then I joked to him because I said “You’re scar is itching because there are scary bad dressed up people around, like in Harry Potter, when his scar hurt.” And then I went to bed, and Logan spent the night. Now we’re playing some more before he leaves.
